Description : Dark pink coloured fine powder
Solubility : Freely soluble in water giving pink coloured solution. Insoluble in Organic solvents.
Identification :-
Cyanocobalamin : A 2.5% solution in water exhibits maximum peak at 360nm to 362nm, on u.v. spectrophotometer.
Gelatin : 10% w/v solution of the sample, stored at 5-80C in a refrigerator for 20 minutes forms gel.
1% w/v solution in DM water gives positive test with Biurett Reagent.
Loss On Drying : N.M.T 6% as loss on drying at 1050C , (On Moisture Balance)
Total Microbial Count : Not Exceeding 1000 CFU per gm. (By employing plate method)
Pathogens : Absent
Assay : 90% to 110% w/w.(Of Label)
0.9% to 1.1% w/w (Vitamin B12 Crystalline)
Usage :
As source of Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12), in Pharmaceutical preparations for making Syrups, Drops, Tablets and Capsules.
Also as source of Vitamin B12 in Food Products and veterinary preparations as source of Vitamin B12.
