Dihydromyrcenol is mainly used in the composition of fragrances for soaps, detergents, detergents, air fresheners and citrus - and lemon-like fragrance. It displaces therewith various kinds of citrus oil, which have the disadvantage that they have large amounts of the allergen limonene and therefore also are even more sensitive to oxidation .

In addition, dihydromyrcenol also can be used as an intermediate to produce other organic compounds such as tetrahydromyrcenol and myrcetol.
Dihydromyrcenol imparts a powerful, fresh lime-like, citrusy-floral and sweet odor with little or no terpenic undertones. It is used predominantly in soap fragrances and as a powerful supporting note in citrus and lime-type perfumes.
