In petroleum industry, it is used as the solvent to remove tar and phenol from the petroleum hydrocarbon. In oil industry, used as the solvent to extract fatty acid from vegetalbe and animal oils. In pharmaceutical industry, used as the reaction medium of steroid drug recrystallization. Acetonitrile is drug (vitamin B1), fragrance intermediate and the raw material in the production of s-triazine nitrogen fertilizer synergist. Also used as ethanol denaturant. Besides, it can be used in the synthesis of amine and acetic acid, dyeing and lighting industry.
