Appearance:

White, odorless powder or fine granules.
Solubility:

Sparingly soluble in water.
Forms a solution called limewater when mixed with water.
pH:

The pH of a 1% solution in water is typically around 12.4, indicating a strong alkaline nature.
Melting Point:

Decomposes at high temperatures, with a melting point of approximately 580C.
Heavy Metals:

The product complies with EP standards for heavy metal content, which should not exceed 0.001%.
Loss on Drying:

Less than 1.0%.
Assay:

The content of Calcium Hydroxide (Ca(OH)) should be 95% to 105% of the labeled amount.
Applications:
Pharmaceuticals:

Used in the formulation of antacids and as a mild antiseptic.
Employed in the preparation of limewater (a 0.1% solution of Calcium Hydroxide in water).
