Mode of Occurrence - Occurs in the form of bedded and pocket deposit associated with aluminous rocks.

Uses - Its major use (about 97%) is in ceramics and pottery. Other industries where ball clay is used are refractory, pesticide, insulators, insulator sheets, detergent; as filler in paper and textile industries, in paint industries, medicines, clothes etc.
