TOPIC : Trade Fairs means to identify new buyers/markets.

Selecting trade shows is certainly a daunting task especially in present scenario when every now & than new trade fairs are taking place. These new shows though initially might not get huge buyers as visitors, which in comparison an established show surely attracts but many of these new shows at newer locations certainly have the potential to be popular/large in the years to come, because of the new markets they offer & the new buyers which they attract. Such shows infact creates a confusion in the minds of prospective exhibitors about where to exhibit & where not to. Not just this but at times even choice between 2 popular & established shows which caters to similar product segment also leads to confusion in the minds of prospective exhibitors. With no hard & fast rules available based on which a prospective exhibitor can select a show, below are few tips which can make this task relatively easy:-

1) Select show which matches your trade Show objective i.e new buyers in new markets, new buyers in existing markets etc.
2) Performance of the show in last few years, if its an old show.
3) Speak with your existing buyers & find out which show they consider good or where would they be visiting, it is always good to meet your existing buyers at the trade fairs & show them your latest product range as well.
4) Try & find out how many of your competitors will be exhibiting at the show?
5) Take internal feedback from your employees - marketing & sales dept., business associates etc.

The show getting maximum positive feedback from the above, should be the show which suits your business & needs.

If you can afford to attend both the fairs its the best but otherwise i would suggest to repeat the same show again.Buyers like to see you again that builds there confidence in your company.

It normally takes 2 or 3 presences at any one trade fair for buyers to recognise you and to approach you for business. Dont go for a trade fair expecting spectacular results the 1st year. Repeat exhibitors have always managed to get business.

Additionally, do take care of the presentation of your products. It is really not enough to take 4-5 posters and brochures and display them at the stand. It is always advisable to take samples of your products and if possible, hand samples out (depending on the product of course) to prospective buyers so that they can take it back with them and get a feel of the quality of your work.
