Q. Is it possible to run transformers at voltages other than their rated voltages?
Answer
Transformers can be operated at voltages lower than the nameplate rated voltage in some instances. A transformer should never be run over its nameplate rating unless a tap changer is available. When the voltage is lower than the rated voltage the KVA capacity is lowered accordingly.
