Key Features
The crystalline structure of silver iodide changes with temperature. Some of the phases of these changes are as follows:
* Up to 420K (147 A A C), AgI exists in the ACA -phase, which has a wurtzite structure
* Above 420K (147 A A C), AgI undergoes a transition to the AYA -phase, which has a body-centered cubic structure. Its silver ions are distributed randomly between 2-, 3-, and 4-coordinate sites.
* A metastable AYAL-phase also exists below 420K, which has a zinc blende structure
