Rubber sleeves are at advantage against the widely used adhesive tapes in many ways. Unlike adhesive tapes which are not separated from the flask before it is put in burnout furnace, sleeves can be removed and used innumerable times again.

Perforated flasks are used in the process of casting for uniform dispersion of heat to the casting powder, however by applying the tape the process gets hampered. More ever even if the tape is burned out completely a layer of its burnt remains are left on the outer surface of the flask which adversely affects the life of the flask.
