Product Overview
Key Features
Most utility Bills are influenced by KVAR usage.
2) Increases system capacity: Improving the Power Factor by proper selection & Installation of APFC stages releases system capacity & permits additional loads to be added without overloading the system. In a typical system with PF. 0.8, 800 kw, 1000 kva is available, By correcting the system to 1.0 by APFC the KW = KVA at every stage Now the corrected system will support 1000 verses the 800 KW at the PF. 0.8. In uncorrected condition an KW increase of 200 KW of productive power.
3)Reduction in current drawn : This reduces the size of equipments such as transformer, switchgear cables etc. along with reduction of losses. So in an existing installation the direct benefits of reducing the currents drawn is that additional loads can be installed using the same supply equipments.
4)Reduction in cable losses : As explained above, improvement in power factor means reduction in the currents. For a given cable, the losses are proportional to the square of this current, given by expression I2 R, where I = current in amps, and R= Resistance of cable used. An improvement in the PF from initial value of 0.7 to 1.0 reduces the losses by 60%.
5)Reduction in Transformer losses : The losses in transformer are two types :
1. Losses the core, i. e. Iron losses and
2. Losses in windings , i. e. Copper losses.
The iron losses are approximately equal to power consumed by the transformer under no load conditions and for all practical purposes are assumed to be constant irrespective of the load variation on the transformer, the copper losses however vary with square of the current and thus become directly related to the Power Factor of the load which is being supplied from the transformer.
6)Improvement in voltage regulation : Whenever a transformer operates on loads there is a voltage drop in the secondary voltage in comparison to the no load secondary voltage. The percentage regulation of a transformer indicates this voltage drop. Improvement in power in power factor has a positive impact in terms of reducing the voltage drop on secondary of a transformer and thereby improving its regulation. Consequently system efficiency is improved due to better voltage regulation.
7)Saving in KVA Maximum Demand : This is most direct and probably the largest cost benefits to the consumer when the System power factor is improved by automatic way (APFC). For a given installation this also means that additional load can be installed without approaching the electricity supply companies, For enhancing the KVA demand of the existing installation.
8)Saving in Penalty: Besides improvement in Power Factor it is equally important to maintain the same above the penalty free power factor of 0.9 irrespective of the load variation. This also has a major cost impact, the magnitude of which is likely to increase significantly over the coming years.
9) Guaranteed 7% rebate from Supply Companies: Electricity supply companies had offered scheme of giving 7 % rebates for maintaining Power factor to 1.00.Once the power factor is set to 1.00 by Installation of Static & automatic capacitor banks, consumers can get the benefits for a long period.
10)Enhancement in the life of Switchgear/Cables, etc : The life of the equipments such as switchgear, cables etc. is enhanced due to reduction in the current drawn for a given installation, due to improvement in the power factor By proper combination Static & APFC.
11)Increase of capacitor Life : Due to easiest way of switching of capacitors only required KVAR capacitors remains in the circuit automatically hence capacitors gets sufficient rest the life increases up to 2 to 3 times than rated.
