Perlite has got the tendency to ex foliate on temperature above 800 degree C. Thus it will expand when it comes into contact with the liquid metal,forming a light weight viscous accumulation. This accumulation attracts all individual slag particles. This Slag accumulation floats over the surface of liquid metal and can be easily removed.
