Applications
Olivine is suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. Prominent commercially viable applications are as below.
EBT Sand:In Eccentric Bottom Tap Ladles, olivine is used as tap hole filler material. Using Olivine as a tap hole filler material can achieve opening rates of 97-100% without intervention with an oxygen torch.
Slag Conditioner: 90% of the world's olivine is consumed as a slag conditioner. Olivine is available in various grades for use as a slag former in the blast furnace or as an additive to sinter and pellets. The high MgO content combined with a low loss on ignition makes Olivine a suitable product as a slag conditioner for steel making.
Refractory products: Olivine sand is available in various grades for use in the production of refractory monolithics.
