A bronchodilator is a substance that dilates the bronchi and bronchioles, decreasing airway resistance and thereby facilitating airflow. During an Asthma episode the respiratory passages get congested with excess mucus which obstructs free flow of air. The alkaloid Vasicinone, the auto-oxidation product of vasicine has been reported to cause bronchodilatory effects.
