Malt sprouts are obtained from malted barley by the removal of the sprouts, which may contain some of the malt hulls, other parts of the malt and foreign material unavoidably there.

Description

Malt sprouts having dried sprouts and rootlets produced during the germination of sprouting of barley for brewing. Malt Sprouts should have crude protein which is very useful in animal feed.
They are a medium energy, medium protein, high fiber feedstuff with about 70 % of the TDN value of corn. They may be included in the grain mix as required. Avoid including them as more than 20 percent of the ration because of their lower energy value.

Feeding and Usage

Malt sprouts are an inexpensive source of protein, which also supply adequate fiber for normal rumen function and fat test. Sprouts are about as large as dried brewera s grains and supply slightly less total digestible nutrients. They are somewhat bitter and therefore should be mixed with other feedstuffs for palatability.
