The door has a specially designed tongue-and-groove construction, which creates a diversion in the passage of flames and hot gases, preventing them from entering the cabinet.
This construction, coupled with the efficient insulation provided by the fire-resisting compound, gives the cabinet as much resistance to fire as a 610 mm concrete wall. Hence, whilst the fire rages outside at a temperature of 1010 C (1850F), the inner temperature remains below 177 C keeping the records safe and usable.

The Godrej FRRC has successfully withstood severe fire and impact tests. They include the 2-hour fire impact test and the 2-hour fire endurance test at the Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee, Uttar Pradesh - the only accredited institute of its kind in India for carrying out such test.
