This compact, handheld instrument can be used to measure rpm of gasoline engines. It supports both contact and non-contact measurements and can be used on 2 or 4 cycle engines having from 1 to 8 cylinders. NON-CONTACT MEASUREMENTS With your engine running, turn on the PET-1100R, select the type of engine, and simply position the nose of the PET-1100R near one of the active ignition cables (i.e. spark plug cables). When the PET-1100R is held between 1cm and 50cm from the ignition cable it will detect ignition pulses and use this information to determine the engine rpm. CONTACT MEASUREMENTS The PET-1100R comes with a contact antenna pickup. When making contact measurements, attach one end of the antenna lead to the PETR-1100R and the alligator-clip end to one of the ignition cables. Power on the tachometer, select the type of engine and number of cyclinders and the correct rpm will display. The PET-110R is battery powered and has an operating time of approximately 20,000 hours.
