Diethylene glycol (DEG) is a colorless, odorless, viscous, and sweet-tasting toxic industrial solvent (\(C_{4}H_{10}O_{3}\)) primarily used in brake fluids, lubricants, and antifreeze, but it is highly toxic to humans. It causes severe renal failure, neurological damage, and death if ingested. Contamination in medicines, such as cough syrups, has caused multiple mass poisoning deaths worldwide.

Diethylene Glycol is a colorless, odorless, viscous liquid with a sweet taste. It is hygroscopic and miscible with water, alcohol, and ether. Commonly used as a solvent, antifreeze, and in the production of plastics and resins, it is toxic and should be handled with care.
