It is solvent for polyvinyl resins, ethyl cellulose, dammar, cellulose acetopropionate and nitrocellulose. Because of its high efficiency and stability it is the most widely used plasticizer for the vinyl resins. Highly suitable for cable coating composition because of its dielectric constant and power factor. It is used in nitrocellulose lacquers, for better elasticity and tensile strength. As a softener in nitrile rubber compounds, to get low volatility, flexibility, excellent electrical characteristics, heat and ultra violet light resistance, low temperature flexibility and low water extraction. Also used in plastic compounds for proof goods. Supported and unsupported films, electrical wires and cable insulations, high frequency radio cable insulation, aircraft parts, hospitals sheeting and shower curtains.
