Description: Cough: A defensive mechanism of respiratory tract to clear and protect the lower respiratory tract and it is an indicator for underlying disease. There are two types of Cough : Productive Cough: is a cough that brings up mucus, the sections of L.R.T. The mucus produced is a part of the defence action of the Respiratory system. The mucus protects lungs from further damage, infection, allergence and increased atmospheric pollution and irritants like tobacco, chemical gases leading to inflammation of respiratory tract. During inflammation, there is release of chemical mediators like Histamines, Prostaglandines and leukotrienes resulting in increased mucus secretion leading to thickness of mucus and congestion in lower respiratory tract. Decodil facilitates the expulsion of mucus by the expectorants and anti histamines. The treatment of underlying cause is must.
Composition : Each 5ml. Contains: Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride I.P. 14 mg. Ammonium Chloride I.P. 138 mg. Sodium Citrate I.P 57 mg. Menthol I.P 1 mg. Colour: Sunset Yellow FCF.
Indications : Productive cough associated with infections, allergy and functional disorders in lower respiratory tract.
Dosage : Adult: 10ml every 4 hours. Children: 5ml every 4 hours.
