Description and Extraction: Cumin oil is extracted by steam distillation from the ripe seed. Originally from the Mediterranean area, it is a small annual herb about 50cm ( 20 inches) high, with deep green, narrow feathery leaves and tiny white or pink flowers, followed by small oblong seed. it is mainly used for its digestive properties. Cumin essential oil is extracted from Cuminum cyminum.
Chemical Composition:
The main chemical components of cumin oil are Cuminaldehyde, cymene, Sabenine, phellandrene and pinene etc.
Toxicological Properties:
Cumin oil are antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, antitoxic, bactericidal, carminative, digestive, diuretic, emmenagogue, nervine, stimulant and tonic. It has a spicy and very penetrating smell.
