Consolidation Test Description:

Consolidation test is a one-dimensional test considered extremely important in soil mechanics. Samples taken from adjacent areas of a single site may show differential settlement even when tested using the same techniques. Soil of similar strength may exhibit varying consolidation behavior.

Samples are carefully prepared, and vertical settlement of the specimen under saturated or drained conditions is recorded when a known load is applied.
