It is brittle and often has slippery feel. It has distinguishing feature that is usually emits a clayey odour when breathed upon and becomes plastic when wet. Further it has high resistance to heat. The Specific Gravity is 2.2 - 2.6 and hardness is 1.0 - 2.5.
