This mesh may be brought to a bright finish by first removing surface oil from the mesh using "Shower Power" TM or similar mild phosphoric acid household cleaning product, then rinsing it well. This process is not for children and you should use gloves and safety mask when using any chemical.
In an outdoor environment, the discoloration will become pronounced as soon as six months at the seashore up to 14 to 20 years in desert conditions. This discoloration may be stopped by lacquering, waxing, or periodically oiling the mesh to protect it from atmospheric conditions. Brass wire mesh samples are available.
