USES WITH BITUMEN:Attapulgite Micronise is used to make PUTTY which is Bitumen based joint sealing compound: Formulated with ductile bitumen with a gelling agent, antioxidants, stabilizers and special additive. Putty made from Attapulgite is capable of withstanding expansion, contraction and structural movement and is resistant to bacteriological attack and is therefore recommended for use in water retaining structures where biological activity occurs. Putty made from Attapulgite is an ideal joint sealant for vertical and inclined types of water retaining structures, culverts, basement structures, sewage works, roofing and as a moulding Putty to create an appropriate profile around pipe joints prior to covering with a protective wrap. Attapulgite Micronise is also used in making a solvent based synthetic rubber, modified bituminous liquid Compound with reinforcing filler, gelling and wetting agents, antioxidants and special additives for enhanced adhesion. When cured the Compound forms a rubber-like membrane that is able to withstand severe expansion and contraction movements as it is elastic and has the capability of bridging over stress cracks.
