The accumulator can be classified into cage loop and horizontal spiral ones. Cage loop accumulator has been used as the material-storage device in ERW pipe making machine very early. It is designed in a vertical cage structure which is simple and easy for making. It required low cost. The strip steel materials are stored in it in folded manner. Hence, the cage loop accumulator is only suitable for store steel strips coming with of thickness less than 3mm.
Horizontal spiral accumulator is more suitable for storage of strip steel materials with a thickness of 6mm or above. It can store very long materials and boasts no surface damage to strip steel materials. Meanwhile, the horizontal spiral accumulator requires smaller engine power as compared cage loop one.
