The AORA journey began in the year 2010. But the seeds for it were sown much earlier. In themind of a small group of us who were practising the art and had a deep desire to increase theacademic reach of the domain. It was an intense desire to learn-together-the art of performing Peripheral Nerve blocks safely that led the 6-member team of TVS Gopal, Sandeep Diwan, Satish Kulkarni, Vrushali Ponde, Ashit Mehta and me to form the academic body of the Academy of Regional Anaesthesia of India in 2011, when we met in Mumbai. It was indeed a very humblebeginning. It was a true passion to learn and teach appropriate administration of Regional Anaesthesia usingthegadgets,Peripheral Nerve Stimulator and Ultrasound, that led to the growth of this body into a strong and vibrant academic organisation.
