StorageFreshly prepared solutions of MERREM IV should be used. However re-constituted solutions of MERREM IV maintain satisfactory potency under the conditions described below. Solutions of intravenous MERREM IV should not be frozen. Intravenous Bolus Administration MERREM IV injection vials re-constituted with sterile Water for Injection for bolus administration (up to 50 mg/mL of MERREM IV) may be stored for up to 3 hours at up to 25AAdegC (77AAdegF) or for 13 hours at up to 5AAdegC (41AAdegF). Intravenous Infusion Administration Solutions prepared for infusion (MERREM IV concentrations ranging from 1 mg/mL to 20 mg/mL) re-constituted with Sodium Chloride Injection 0.9% may be stored for 1 hour at up to 25AAdegC (77AAdegF) or 15 hours at up to 5AAdegC (41AAdegF). Solutions prepared for infusion (MERREM IV concentrations ranging from 1 mg/mL to 20 mg/mL) re-constituted with Dextrose Injection 5% should be used immediately.

DosageMeropenem is injected into a vein through an IV. You may be shown how to use an IV at home. Do not self-inject this medicine if you do not understand how to give the injection and properly dispose of used needles IV tubing and other items used to inject the medicine. Meropenem is usually given every 8 hours. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not use this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Meropenem must be mixed with a liquid (diluent) before using it. If you are using the injections at home be sure you understand how to properly mix and store the medicine. Do not mix other injectable medications in the same IV bag or tubing used to given your meropenem injection. Use a disposable needle and syringe only once.
