It all comes down to how heavy the vehicle is. Look for jacks with a lifting capacity that's somewhat higher than the weight of the vehicle. Find a jack that can firmly hold the vehicle. In most cases a two-ton jack will be adequate for a compact or midsize vehicle but it will not be strong enough for a huge truck. The gross vehicle weight and the front and rear weights may be found on a sticker inside the door or in the handbook.Make sure to equip more strength than actually needed.Don't go overboard because a jack's capacity has a direct correlation to its speed and weight.
