Both concentric and eccentric reducer types are used for connecting pipes of varying diameter. However, one special purpose of eccentric reducer is that it prevents the accumulation of air bubbles inside the system. The large diameter end is kept at the suction side of pumps to eliminate the possibility of air build up inside.
