Q. What is the difference between an AC motor and DC motor?

Excepting the monopole DC motors every DC motor is actually an AC motor with a mechanical commutator. Both AC motor and DC motor have different advantages that make them best suited for different commercial and industrial applications. AC motors for example are flexible and easy to control and thus have low startup power costs.
