Q. What is the difference between A-line skirt & flared skirt?
Answer
Either the 1-Dart Skirt Block or the 2-Dart Skirt Block is used to create the A-line and flared skirts. (The A-line is essentially simply a plain, barely flared skirt. The type of skirt you want to create, the amount of flare you would like to add, and the distribution of the flare or thickness all influence the block you use. When sewing different types of skirts, having both skirt blocks available only saves a little bit of labour. Of course, you could use only one skirt brick and adjust the placement of the darts as appropriate. The necessary difference lies in the way both the stitches are done and the cloth is cut out from the piece.
