Q. Is it possible to run the pumps dry?
Answer
Peristaltic bellows pumps and diaphragm pumps may all be operated dry for an extended period of time. Centrifugal rotary vane and gear pumps must not be run empty; however if the gear or impeller is constructed of a self-lubricating compound the pump can be run dry for the first few minutes during priming.
