There are two major groups of analgesics: anti-inflammatory analgesics and opioids. Anti-inflammatory drugs work by reducing inflammation at the site of the pain. Some of the anti-inflammatory analgesic drugs include acetaminophen, aspirin, COX inhibitors and ibuprofen and naproxen.
