Q. How are graphite electrodes made?
Answer
Graphite electrodes are made from petroleum coke mixed with coal tar pitch (binder). It is then forced against a die to take the shape and then baked to carbonize the coal tar pitch and finally graphitized at temperature of 3000°C.
