The wirerod mill section is wholly automated with no operator on the floor. However, maintenance of the mill and quality assurance requires persons on the floor from time to time.

The Process of rolling wirerod is essentially hot deformation of billet in stages.
As a 5.5 mm diameter wirerod has very large area to traverse, ratio of heat loss in the process is rapid and rolling is to be carried out fast. Thus the finishing speed is fairly high compared to the rolling of heavy bars like 10 & 12mm diameter reinforcement rods.
The hot rolling processing involves passing the hot bar through the grooves of the rotating paired rolls in a predetermined sequence, it involves i? 3 roughing, 4 intermediate, 2 finishing, and 4 continuousi? respectively.
