Vibratory Fluid Bed Dryer
In this type of dryer a powder layer is vibrated (where vibration helps the movement of solids and drying) on an air distributor plate. The effect of this vibration combined with the upward and forward directed flow of air through the plate creates ideal processing conditions and powder transport.
This gives a much lower product residence time per unit bed area than non-vibrating beds which can have powder layers.It can be operated as a separate drying or cooling unit.
Operation of Vibro Fluid Bed Dryers:
- Material is easily transported through the dryer due to fluidization and vibration.
- Fluidization velocity can be judiciously selected to minimize entertainment of the smaller particles.
- Minimize entertainment to avoid gas bubbling in the fluid bed thereby minimizing attrition.
- Residence time can be adjusted by varying the bed height, through the overflow weir position.
