* A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID),used to treat pain, redness and inflammation associated with cataract surgery
* Undergoes rapid bioactivation to amfenac , that uniformly inhibits the COX1and COX2 activity
* Rapidly crosses the cornea (6 times faster than diclofenac in vitro) and is well tolerated and effective
* Decreases inflammation by blocking prostaglandin H synthase, an enzyme required for prostaglandin production
* The anti-inflammatory efficacy of nepafenac 0.1% is better than that of placebo
