Usage: Tetracycline hydrochloride is the hydrochloride form of the tetracycline. Tetracycline is a kind of broad-spectrum polyketide antibiotics produced by the Streptomyces genus of antinobacteria. It is a kind of bacteriostatic antibiotics which inhibits the bacteria growth through binding to the 30 S ribosomal subunit, blocking the aminoacyl tRNA from binding to the translating ribosome, thus interfering with the protein synthesis process. It is used for the treatment of infections occurring in urinary tracts, respiratory tract, and the intestines. Because of the problem of drug resistance, tetracycline is not a frequent choice for treating bacterial infections. However, it is still used for the treatment of infections caused by chlamydia, Rickettsia and Spirochetal.
