Several patients who were having raised blood glucose level and were treated with the formulation comprising methi seeds improved significantly and the blood glucose level became normal. Some patients of NIDDM, were also treated with trigonella foenum seeds and showed very good response. Methi contains the fibre component. In people with type 2 diabetes it lowers the blood sugar level and improves the problems associated with high blood sugar level.

Trigonell foenum is bitter in taste and it reduces vata and kapha dosha. Diabetes is a disease of kapha disorder, hence consumption of trigonella foenum in diabetic patient helps in improving the metabolism of kapha due to its bitter taste and it prevents or prohibits excess growth of kapha in body and also helps in reducing the increased blood sugar level and thus helps in keeping diabetes in control. It also prevents unnecessary weight growth in diabetic patient by controlling fat metabolism.
