MY-LO-JEL pre-gelatinized corn starch is a high-quality polysaccharide used to provide filtration control in all types of water-base drilling fluids. This non-ionic natural polymer is effective in all make-up waters, including high-salinity and high-hardness brines

Applications

MY-LO-JEL is an economical and effective filtration-control additive. It works in all waters, including fresh water, brackish water, seawater, and saturated salt water. It may be used in most mud systems, including lime, gyp, lignosulfonate, polymer, non-dispersed, potassium and others. Normal treatments range from 4 to 8 lb/bbl (11.4 to 22.8 kg/m3), depending on the make-up-water chemistry and desired fluid loss. A minimum concentration of MY-LO-JEL is required before a significant reduction in fluid loss will be observed. Unless the system has a base of saturated salt water or has a very high pH, a biocide will be necessary to prevent bacterial degradation

Limitations

• Subject to bacterial attack which may result in loss of filtration control unless the mud contains >180,000 mg/l chlorides or a pH> 11.5
• Requires a biocide preservative or bactericide in conditions other than high chlorides or high pH
• Degrades rapidly when exposed to temperatures in excess of 250^OF (121^OC)
• Less effective in high-pH/highcalcium,saturated brine systems

Packaging and Storage

MY-LO-JEL is packaged in 50-lb (22.7-kg), multi-wall, paper sacks. Store in a dry location away from sources of heat or ignition, and minimize dust.
