Active ingredients and mechanism of actionThe three active components in Spegra work synergistically to inhibit different stages of the HIV replication cycle: Dolutegravir (50 mg): This is an integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI). It blocks the integrase enzyme, which HIV needs to integrate its genetic material into human cells.Emtricitabine (200 mg): A nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI), this drug prevents the viral RNA from being converted into DNA by inhibiting the reverse transcriptase enzyme.Tenofovir Alafenamide (TAF) (25 mg): This is a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NtRTI) that also blocks the reverse transcriptase enzyme.
