Closed-cell sponge seals under low clamping force, so it suits light covers, thin sheet-metal doors and uneven mating faces where a solid gasket would need more pressure than the joint can give. Used on electrical enclosures, panels, luminaires, HVAC units and appliance covers to keep out dust, draught and water.
