Scan Mirror is swept linearly by a mechanical scanning gimbal and this allows the optical sensor to take large field exposures of the target using a single dimensional array sensor on-board the satellite. The linear mechanical movement is important for achieving an imaging linearity of the satellite, utilizing a complete non contact electro optic technique. The test system utilizes a thermovac compatible 22Mpixel camera and a pulsed laser source to monitor the movement of the scan mirror and thereby compute the movements linearity.
