Chemical Properties

It is a strong oxidizing agent. Aqueous solution shows weak alkalinity. It can react with acid to produce potassium dichromate. It can react with many metal ions to form insoluble chromate precipitates. It is easy to absorb moisture in humid air. Avoid contact with reducing agents, organic substances and combustible materials, otherwise it may cause fire risk.

Applications

1. Used as analytical reagent in laboratory, for precipitation titration and metal ion detection.
2. Used as corrosion inhibitor for metal passivation, anti-rust treatment of steel and aluminum alloy.
3. Raw material for manufacturing other chromium compounds and chrome pigments.
4. Mordant for textile dyeing industry.
5. Used in ceramic and enamel colorant production.
6. Applied in electroplating industry.
