What we measure:
Concurrency: System should support expected number of concurrent users per hour, including peak hours
Throughput: Wea ll set targets on number of transactions / sec, number of pages / sec, and measure against the actuals during tests. Test against specific set of users.
Availability: System should not throw errors while putting requests to the server, under expected load and concurrency level
Response Time: For each test, wea ll measure the response times at every step of the scenario (and aggregate by transaction), and compare against the base-lined / expected values. Ita ll be ensured that therea re no regressions (response times increasing in later builds), and any such occurrences will be brought to notice of the team
Network Utilization: Wea ll set targets on data volume (response bytes), bytes / second, and data error rate and measure against the actuals during tests
Server Utilization: Wea ll measure the KPIs at the server including CPU utilization, Memory utilization, and Disk I / O
What we deliver:
Performance test scenarios will be designed, constructed in code, and executed routinely
At the end of every run, reports will be collated; data will be analysed for uncovering any discrepancies
Upon discovery of discrepancies, further analysis will be attempted. Wea ll attempt to identify the specific environmental configuration/condition that coulda ve caused the issue and isolate it, by performing multiple runs of the same scenario with slightly differing parameter setting or under different environmental conditions. However, wea ll not attempt to root-cause the defects at the code level
Each run report will be filed, and published to the team. Upon successful isolation of causes for issues, wea ll discuss with the development team, and more suitable tests will be designed and included into our performance test suite
