The dosage depends on the animal's weight and the severity of the infection. Withdrawal period: Livestock treated with Nitroxynil must be monitored for a withdrawal period before being sent for slaughter to ensure that no residues of the drug remain in their meat or milk. Effectiveness: Nitroxynil is very effective, especially when used early in an infection. However, it s important that it is used according to the recommended guidelines to avoid resistance development or toxicity. Function (How Nitroxynil Works): Mechanism of Action: Nitroxynil works by disrupting the parasite's energy production.
