This isdn nt1 device forms the interface between the telephone and the subscribers, and as such, fulfills the following functions. Data transmission, i.e. Conversion from 2-wire to 4-wire transmission. Power feeding of subscribers. Switching between normal mode and restricted mode. This device module has the following interfaces: U interface (a/b wire, exchange side) S interface (subscriber side) P interface, device connection for the external power supply 240VAC (Power Pack) 40VDC (Rack Version) 1.2 General functional description The electronics of this device has the following functions: Change-over of the power supply between Normal and Restricted mode. nt1 device conversion of the signals (Codes, Level) between U interface and S interface Galvanic isolation & Safeguarding the full duplex connection to the exchange by maintaining adequate signal quality. Also has a capability to support exchanges with no or insufficient remote power feeding. Keep slide switch SW at position Ul, if power available & fed to UNT is well within range (40-115V) OR else keep at position U2, if power available & fed to UNT is Low or Zero. Easy Access nt1 terminates the line at the customer premises and provides 2 S/T interfaces for digital access. It is ideally suited for high-quality voice connectivity with isdn phones as well as instant high-speed internet access through modem.
