Engal-103 is an antimicrobial beads, which releases silver ions in a controlled manner, for sustained antibacterial and antifungal effect. Engal-103 is made of bio-compatible calcium phosphate, incorporated with silver in a special matrix. Silver is known for its antibacterial effect for more than 2000 years. The primary property of Engal-103 is its water solubility. It slowly dissolves in water, whereby the silver ions are released. This property can be used in washing machines, where the released silver attaches to the surface of the clothes and sustains the antibacterial effect on the cloth. This makes the cloth odour free due to bacterial decomposition. Engal-103 has to be sealed in a porous pouch or enclosures and suspended in water inside washing machine. The turbulent water in the washing machine leaches out Engal-103 and deposits the same over the cloth, inside the washing machine.
