Namur Control unit is designed specifically for Namur Proximity Switches. This unit is powered through 230 V AC, 50 Hzs Supply. It gives out 8.2 V DC supply with a series resistance of 1 K ohms. This ensures that maximum current supplied by this unit will not exceed 8.2 mm.

The Namur Switch is connected to these DC Output points (indicated by R and B on the sticker). Normally Namur Switch consumes 3 mm current in undamped state. The current drops below 1 mm as soon as the switch is activated. This current change is processed in the control unit that gives a 2A relay Output.

The most important feature of this Control Unit is that it has been protected against False signals such as Wire Break It can differentiate between wire break condition and the damped condition even though in both cases the current drops below 1 mm. Thus in Case wire break the break LED will turn on but the relay will be deactivated.

NAMUR SWITCH CURRENT CHARACTERISTIC:

• Namur Switch in undamped condition consumes current more than 3 mm. Normally this current is between 3 mm to 4.5 mm. This is taken as Switch off condition by the Namur control Unit.
• In case the current supplied by the unit exceeds 6.5 mm it is taken as Short Condition by the Control Unit.
• In damped condition the current through switch drops below 1 mm but not less than 0.2 mm. This is considered as On Condition and the Relay is activated.
• In case the current supplied by the control unit is less than 0.1 mm it is considered as Wire Break condition and in this situation relay is turned off.
