Maxwell Involute Gear Cutters are machine form relieved - the profile remains constant throughout cutter life, provided that on re-shapening, the face of the tooth is ground Radial-to-Center.Maxwell manufactures cutters:
- For spur gears with a 14-1/2 or 20 pressure angle.
- Form relieved to allow resharpening many times without changing the form.
- Cutters are made for each pitch.
- For sizes 12 Module and larger, it is possible for greater accuracy to order sets of 15 including 1/2 cutter sizes 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5 and 7.5.
- All sizes above 9 module and many of the metric bore cutters, are made to order.
A standard was introduced using a series of eight cutters to cover the range.
